- Time is money, so companies are
finding new ways both to cut time to market and to slash the cost
of development.
- One of the principal aids to Lean
manufacturing is not so much the possible reductions in time and
effort obtained by using better design and analysis tools, but the
possibility of using the same data to directly input to advance
manufacturing methods.
- Lean design and development is
about an attitude of mind, rather than use of software per se -
although having the right software and knowing how best to make
use of it definitely helps.
- The business can be large,
or it can be small, but whatever its size, the approaches tend to
be much the same - getting everyone with a useful interest engaged
in the design and developing processes, managing those processes
as efficiently as possible, and using automation aids wherever they
help.
